About UsBarry Jackson D.O. (graduated 1988) and Judith Rainford D.O. (graduated 1989) both completed 4 year full time diploma courses at the British School of Osteopathy and established the practice, the first in West Cumbria, in October 1989. Barry has 20 years experience treating people of all ages with a wide variety of problems. 'My satisfaction comes from helping resolve a problem for someone who has, in many instances, had symptoms for many weeks or months. It is also rewarding to play a part in maintaining a person's physical health and encouraging people to take an active role in keeping themselves well.' Judith is particularly interested in the treatment of babies and children. She has completed post-graduate studies in cranial osteopathy and has previous experience as an antenatal teacher and as a children's nurse. 'Babies and small children with a variety of symptoms often respond very well to cranial and gentle manual treatment and afterwards it is satisfying to see a content child and relieved parent following what has often been a very stressful period for both.' Rachel Knight B'Ost joined the practice in August 2008 having completed a 4 year degree course at the BSO. Rachel also has a keen interest in the treatment of sports injuries. She has worked for the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) treating volunteer athletes at both the Flora London Marathon and the British Triathlon. Having previously worked as a massage therapist, Rachel has a huge amount of experience in manual therapy. 'My fascination with the human body and interest in health and medicine led me to study osteopathy and I enjoy the constant challenge of the wide variety of problems I see every day.'
